2022 NSW Country Championships LC
A large team of WIAQ swimmers travelled to Sydney on Friday 18th-Sunday 20th February for the annual NSW Country Championships.
As the reigning premier club, all present expected another great performance and WIAQ stepped up, retaining the overall premiership with the boys ranked 2nd and the girls 1st.
Standout performances were a 1-2-3 finish in the 400IM from Brayden Woodford, Riley Powell and Layke Shipley, a huge pb for Alex Mumford in the 100 breaststroke, and a first (and hugely well-earned) national qualifying time for Kieran Harris. Congratulations to all swimmers for their exemplary effort, conduct and team spirit throughout the weekend.
Unfortunately the meet was curtailed mid-way through the morning session on Sunday. Many swimmers were disappointed to miss racing opportunities, but the coaches were proud to see the team rally together, put frustrations aside and look ahead to the coming training week.
